We all know what to do before having sex, during sex, but what about after sex! Sex is fun and pleasurable. But there are 6 things you ought to do immediately after sex to enable you stay healthy and maintain good hygiene after intercourse.

The reason that women get UTIs after sex is that the urethra is very short and the bladder is close to it, compared to the men whose urethra is a bit longer, so during penetrative sex bacteria gets direct access to your bladder and this can lead to bladder infection called Cystitis

It's also required that If you've engaged in any oral action, that you wash your mouth.

👉 wash your hands & clean your Genitals properly: This two goes hand to hand, it is a "must do" after sex, it's important that you wash your hands well, bacteria magnets on our hands before and after sex, why don't you give those hands a good scrubbing after sex. 

Clean your private parts after the deed has been done to stay away from infections. 

Cleaning of the genitals shouldn't be done by the females only it's advisable both partners should help themselves by practising good hygiene.

Am sure you must be wondering how do most women clean up and perhaps what do they use in cleaning up the vulva [this is the external part of the female sex organs]. 

Clean up the vulva gently with warm water and if possible with a mild soap (non fragrant) Simply take a warm washcloth and gently dab your vagina with soap and water (or just warm water), moving from front to back.

👉 Avoid douching: A lot of you must have heard the word douching and might be confused on what that means. Yes there is an answer for you!

Douching will result in several health issues, including problems getting pregnant. Douching is additionally coupled to canal infections and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

One of the biggest myths about vaginal health is that the vagina needs to be thoroughly cleaned when, in fact, it is self-cleaning. 

You do not got to use robust soaps or perfumes. Putting something foreign into the canal upsets the natural balance of the canal."

👉 Clean your sex toys: it's appropriate that you clean your sex toys, anything that goes in there should be cleaned after use as Sex toys can carry bacteria. 

If you've used any sex toys, they should be cleaned with warm water and a mild soap, and the same goes for your bedsheets. 

It isn't hygienic to share your Sex toys between partners unless they are cleaned or a condom is used. there should also be proper disposal of condoms after use.

👉 Change your undies: After cleaning, properly dry the area and wear breathable material. 

After you've used the bathroom and washed with warm water and mild soap, drying with a clean towel and wearing clean underwear because excess "moisture on the vulva can also lead to yeast infections or UTIs and in some cases Pelvic inflammatory disease. 

You'll want to wear underwear that is "loose-fitting and made of breathable material such as cotton,"

👉 Take a glass of water: This should be a rule- drinking water after a vigorous activity, yeah sex is. Just as we are told to sip water after a rigorous workout at a gym. this helps you from getting dehydrated. 

These are the 6 things you ought to do immediately after sex. And It is also believed that drinking water after sex can help in flushing out UTI-causing bacteria.
